Interconnections and Interactions in the Ecosystem of General Music Method Teaching

May 21-24, 2017

The 14th Mountain Lake Colloquium will be held May 21-24, 2017, at the Mountain Lake Hotel and Lodge in Pembroke, Virginia.  In keeping with this year’s theme,
“Interconnections and Interactions in the Ecosystem of General Music Method Teaching,” we are delighted to welcome Alice-Ann Darrow and Cassie Meador as our keynote speakers.  Dr. Darrow is Irvin Cooper Professor of Music Education and Music Therapy at Florida State University. Her teaching and research interests are teaching music to special populations, inclusive practices for students with disabilities, particularly those with behavior disorders and deaf/hard-of-hearing, and the role of nonverbal communication in the music classroom.  Ms. Meador is is a choreographer, performer, educator, writer
and Artistic Director of the Dance Exchange.  She has taught and created dances in communities throughout the U.S. and internationally in Japan, Canada, England, Ireland, and Guyana, and her works have tackled numerous social and environmental issues.  Please click here to learn more about our keynote speakers.
